NOVA-A*V meeting August 17/18/19 2022
@kdleschinski from the A*Vienna team will visit @buddel, @wjvriend and @verdoes from the NOVA team on August 17,18 and 19 2022. This issue is used to track that meeting.
Goals:
At the end of the meeting,
- We have formalized the interface between MicadoWISE and ScopeSim (and ScopeSim_templates and the IRDB), in particular we will tackle
- the propagation of IRDB information into MicadoWISE,
- a way to develop our packages without causing headaches to the other team,
- storing DID files in the IRDB,
- the FITS header keywords in the simulated data,
- the procedure to use ScopeSim_Templates in MicadoWISE (e.g. how to store them in headers).
- We have have a prioritized list of features that the NOVA teams wants to have added ScopeSIM in the future, e.g.
- a better way to set the RNG seed to achieve reproducibility
- a way to simulate templates.
- We have a plan to create pypi based irdb packages for MICADO (and other instruments) to ensure "proper" version control of the instrument packages.
- The A*Vienna team is comfortable with using MicadoWISE properly, both standalone and with the archive and distributed processing.
Optional goals:
- We have a plan on how to get the MPE / spectroscopy / ICS teams involved, in particular with the IRDB.
- We have a plan to create conda-packages of ScopeSim.
- We have a roadmap of activities for ScopeSIM and MicadoWISE for the Gaia astrometry use case
- We have a way forward for all the issues linked below (mostly part of the above already).
